Pancake Saturday???

So as if life here isn't weird enough - let's shake it up a little bit more.

WEEKENDS

For the past 29 years I have looked forward to Friday - Friday Fun Day - the start of the weekend; nothing like a Friday night. Freedom from work for the next 2 days! Then there is Saturday...I love Saturdays so much. So much time left in the weekend. Then it ends in Sunday, the day of rest. Sundays are for family, and lazy days, and in our family...the best part of the week...

PANCAKE SUNDAY!
Every Sunday morning, no exceptions.

Except while we are here...
Here...it's Pancake Saturday?! What?!?

Our weekends are Friday and Saturday. This little change has thrown me for a loop. Seriously. It blows my mind. Every.Week.

Sunday is back to work day
Tuesday is hump day
Thursday is Friday
Saturday is Sunday

I can't keep up.

So while you are all at home waking up to your wonderful Saturday morning...we are wrapping up our "Sunday Night" and getting ready for work in the morning. Mind Blown?! Mine is.

So is Davis's..."What Mommy? Pancakes? It's Saturday!?"

Pancake Saturday? This is cray cray....

Caden doesn't care...as long as he gets his pancakes and bacon.

Side note:  I eat my pancakes the BEST way to eat pancakes. The VanDijk way. Hot pancake, lots of butter, then you sprinkle sugar on it...roll it up and eat it with your hands. Delicious. Especially if the pancake is super thin and super hot and the butter is all melty and drippy. Don't judge me. Try it. AMAZING

Andrew on the other hand, is a traditionalist (not surprisingly). Butter and maple syrup...with a fork. BORING.

The point is this...it became sort of a rivalry in our house - which pancake is best. Caden, always the pleaser, won't say which he likes best. He eats one the "Mommy Way" and then eats his second the "Andrew Way" we have a pool going on how Davis will prefer his pancakes. No pressure...but the "Mommy Way" is best buddy...

I take it as a silent answer as to which is best since he eats it "Mommy Way" first (see rolled pancake below)
Also - note to self - if your bacon doesn't smell quite right, throw it out. YUCK.

Davis at least gets to join us at the table now. Thanks to his awesome BUMBO. Since he can't eat pancakes yet...he spent most of his time trying to eat the bumbo. Looks delicious.

Not as delicious as the chocolate his brother fed him behind my back the other day. True Story.

This bumbo is delicious stuff mommy...

  1. I remember growing up with sugar pancakes. Mom could cook them up just right very thin and warm. Butter and sugar. Syrup was too expensive, sugar was much cheaper.

One day I will tell you a story about sugar sandwiches Mom used to make for school lunch along with a thermos of "tea". It's a Dutch thing.

Love the Blog Kristina and look forward to reading everyday.

    Hugs and kisses for everyone.

  2. I love the blog too! Following and reading every day! Keep posting! I'm gonna try pancakes your way. I've eaten crepes that way and LOVE it, but not pancakes.
